Creating a Protection Group with Short-Term or Long-Term Storage
All DPM backups are initially configured to support short-term storage needs. This allows a backup to be used to immediately recover a lost or corrupt server or data set. Long-term storage such as writing week-old short-term data to tape can be configured using the same process. To create a protection group for short-term or long-term storage, you need to use the Create New Protection Group Wizard, which guides you through the process of setting up a new protection group. The steps involved with using this wizard are as follows:
