Creating a New Website or Web Application

Visual Studio allows you to create web both websites and web application projects. Both are represented by project templates that define default directories, configuration, web forms, and other related files and settings. A website is a simplified project template that is used to create websites that are typically deployed as a set of files. A web application project uses the standard Visual Studio structure of solution and project. This includes a project file that defines the content and structure of your site (a website does not contain this file).
