Capturing Analog Video

When capturing DV video, Movie Maker can control the camera via FireWire, enabling a fully automatic capture mode. However, because analog camcorders and other analog video inputs don't offer similar controls over camera operation, all capture of analog video is manual.

In most instances, Movie Maker will capture high-quality video with no adjustments required. But if either the color or brightness of the captured video is sub-par, you may have to optimize the incoming video as discussed in “Tuning the Incoming Video Signal” later in this chapter.
