- C The Disk Operating System (DOS) preceded Windows. It was the boot engine under Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. OS/2 is an OS managed by IBM. Mac OS X is the Apple OS. Linux is an open-source OS based on or similar to Unix.
- True DOS supported batch files, and in fact, many modern batch files look and behave identically to the way they would have in DOS.
- D The Control Panel was included in Windows 3.1 with 11 applets out of the box. Windows 7 still uses the Control Panel. The Program Manager and Calendar were in Windows 3.1 but are no longer in Windows 7. The Action Center is new in Windows 7 and was not in Windows 3.1.
