  1. C The Disk Operating System (DOS) preceded Windows. It was the boot engine under Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. OS/2 is an OS managed by IBM. Mac OS X is the Apple OS. Linux is an open-source OS based on or similar to Unix.
  2. True DOS supported batch files, and in fact, many modern batch files look and behave identically to the way they would have in DOS.
  3. D The Control Panel was included in Windows 3.1 with 11 applets out of the box. Windows 7 still uses the Control Panel. The Program Manager and Calendar were in Windows 3.1 but are no longer in Windows 7. The Action Center is new in Windows 7 and was not in Windows 3.1.
