Chapter 18. Working with Printers

In this chapter, you’ll look at using Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to monitor and manage printers. In the enterprise network, printers—by virtue of being mechanical devices often located in remote places—are frequently labor-intensive machines. Although it’s true that most printers operate reliably for extended periods of time, it’s also true that when they go bad, you’re facing a high-profile issue. To alleviate some of that pain, you’ll learn some of the ways in which WMI can assist you in your goal of managing and monitoring printers.
