Defining Baseline Security

The Security Configuration Wizard is a tool that enables administrators to reduce the attack surface of Windows servers. This wizard is included with Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 and is available only for the Windows Server 2003 operating system at the time of this book being published.

For computers running Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 pre–Service Pack 1, it is recommended you continue designing and implementing security templates to enforce a security baseline.
