6.2. File Services Role
Perhaps the widest installed role Windows servers perform is that of file servers—or what was once categorized as file and print servers. File servers are a very refined category, and one area that sees continual development in every server release. You can get a sense of just how important file servers are by considering the number of features or services that this role offers, as well as how much new development has taken place.
