9.3. The Security Configuration Wizard

Windows Server 2008's new Security Configuration Wizard (SCW) guides you through a set of security policies decisions that will be applied to computers and users on your network. The SCW creates security policy templates. The wizard evaluates the services running on your computer, and checks your firewall security settings, open ports, server roles, and current Registry settings. It then closes unneeded ports, turns off unnecessary services, turns on security auditing, and performs other tasks to make your system more secure. The resulting settings are stored in an XML file that you can open and edit in the SCW.
