Synchronization and Offline Files
Offline Files is a technology designed for those who take their computer away from the network or who dial into a network periodically with a modem, but don't want to stay connected all the time.
With Windows XP, you can make the following two types of files available while you are offline:
Shared Folders— The contents of these folders are copied to a temporary location on the hard drive on your notebook computer. When you disconnect from the network, you can work on the temporary copy of these files. When you reconnect to the network, the files are synchronized with the originals.
