Booting into Safe Mode
If your computer encounters a problem during the boot process and hangs up or it just won't boot normally, then you may need to use the capability provided by Windows XP to boot into Safe Mode. When you boot into Safe Mode only, standard drivers such as a VGA monitor driver are installed, as well as only those other drivers needed to boot the system. The purpose of Safe Mode is to allow you to boot the computer to fix a problem. You may not have access to all of your devices or their advanced features, but Safe Mode can be very useful for fixing minor problems.
