Installing a Standard Modem
If you have a new PC that came with a modem and Windows XP installed, you don't need to read through the information in this section. If that is not the case and you want to use a different modem or upgrade an existing computer to Windows XP, you need to install the modem.
The Add Hardware Wizard
To install a modem in your computer, click on Start, Control Panel, then select Network and Internet Connections. In the Network and Internet Connections window, choose the Phone and Modem Options task from the See Also list located on the left side of the screen (see Figure 25.1).
