Insertion of Intrauterine Contraceptive Device

Intrauterine contraceptive device is a small T-shaped device inserted into the uterine cavity, which is loaded with either copper or a progestational agent. It continuously releases prostaglandin in the uterine cavity and increases uterine activity, which helps in expulsion of the fertilized ovum around menstruation time. It also damages sperms in transition and thus prevents fertilization.
