R egardless of the state of any platform—good or bad—it’s important to understand what the operational investment is with respect to how that platform is supported and upgraded. There are many different areas that go into a robust support model. Ensuring that key areas are covered in that model is critical to the success of the support staff in proactively finding and fixing any issues that may arise.

Production support is just one side of a support model. Other considerations that can come into play include:
  • Monitoring

  • Alerting

  • Telemetry

  • Patching (OS and application)

  • Decision trees
