User Account Management

Now that we’ve discussed identification, authentication, and authorization in depth, we need to take a look at actually managing user accounts. User accounts facilitate user access to systems and data. They allow us to map logical identities and assign rights, privileges, and permissions to the actual user who sits at the keyboard. In this module, we’re going to discuss some of the general principles of user account management. We’ll look at some of the details involved with managing rights, permissions, and privileges for both users and groups. We’ll also look at policy requirements, which usually involve passwords and day-to-day account management.
