Chapter 6. Multi-Gbps Digital Baseband Circuits

6.1 Introduction

This chapter provides detailed specifications for and recent advances in digital baseband processing circuitry and offers insights into the challenges and approaches that will enable multi-gigabit per second (Gbps) data transmission rates in future wireless mmWave communication systems. We present the fundamental concepts and challenges associated with the implementation of baseband circuitry within integrated circuits, and consider both analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs), crucial components of the baseband circuitry in modern transceivers.
