Threats to Trust

Any number of things can threaten the trust that develops between people in a relationship. Here are nine things to be careful of:

Breaches of Trust

One of the biggest threats to trust in a relationship is what is known as a breach, or defection. A breach occurs when one or both people violate the trust that has been built between them. For example, on November 14, 1998, the United States was set to attack Iraq for their refusal to let weapons inspectors investigate sites. According to the United States, Saddam Hussein had engaged in a direct breach of contract. This action made the United States extraordinarily angry.
