The three important aspects to mindfulness are intention, attitude and attention (explained fully in Chapter 3). This chapter focuses on attitude.
Attitudes colour your experience of life. Even if you’re living the ideal life, if you’re always looking for what’s not good enough, that’s what you’ll find. On the flip side, you could be living with just the bare minimum to feed and clothe you and your family, but if you’re focusing on what you do have, life becomes a joy.
When it comes to attitude, you have a choice. If you’re aware of your outlook, you can begin to choose to change it for the better. Attitude isn’t about what happens in your life, how successful you are or even how you feel. You can be feeling the emotion of frustration but think, ‘Hey, at least I’m aware of it’ or ‘This is just a feeling’ or ‘This is a chance for me to understand the feeling of frustration.’
