Overview
Appreciating the contributions of our colleagues and co‐workers and not feeling envious of their success are key components of developing a mindful workplace culture. This means that we intentionally take time to appreciate the contributions of others and communicate in a way that inspires and encourages them in their endeavors.
The Value of Appreciation and Recognition
An incredibly important component of creating a mindful workplace culture is appreciation and recognition. We all know how it feels to work overtime on a project, working weekends to meet deadlines, only to have the project reach completion with no offers of recognition. This lack of appreciation leaves us deflated, uninspired, and unmotivated. If this response becomes the modus operandi of an organization, it will foster an environment in which employees won't put their hearts into the next project. Staff will begin to deliver the bare minimum, spend more time watching the clock, and might even put more effort into submitting resumes on LinkedIn.
