Chapter 14Week 6: In the Same Boat
Some of the most meaningful and most challenging moments in our lives involve our relationships with others. If you've ever had a significant other you probably know, all too well, both those types of moments often come in the same relationship! It's not just relationships with our significant other that this occurs; our professional and other personal relationships also have this type of experience. It's time now to pivot to the practical. I shared previously that you don't work out in the gym to be fit in the gym; you work out in the gym so you are fit and healthy for life outside the gym. Let's take our mindfulness skills out of the gym and into our interactions with others, as we drop in on another situation between Alice and Sarah from Chapter 11. Alice is still up for partner and although she is working in the same group as Sarah, she no longer reports directly to her.1
On Friday afternoon about 4:40 pm, Alice received an email from Sarah:
Hi Alice!
I hope you are doing well. I'm in a bit of a bind. Remember that work you helped us win last month with Reggie's company? The engagement just started last week and Reggie has asked for the digital transformation plan we pitched to be updated with a new time line; he wants everything delayed by 6 months.
