You can build virtually anything in Minecraft, so why not use that ability to create impressive structures? This section lays out the steps you need to take to build exciting and creative structures.

Sketching Out a Rough Idea of the Structure

The first step to building a large-scale build is figuring out exactly what it is that you want to create. What’s the building’s purpose? What type of build is it? Is it large or small? What color should it be?

First, focus on the purpose of the building. How do you want to use it? Is it only for decoration, or does it have a function? For example, a library is for decoration, whereas a house serves a specific need. If your building is for decoration only, you don’t have to think much about the purpose — you can focus on how the building will look. If your building has a specific function, think more about what you need to build or place inside and out (such as a furnace or a place to mine). Though your building should look nice, the decorative aspect is secondary.
