7.1. Minecraft and Teaching Science
I interviewed Dan Bloom in January 2014 after I saw an article he’d written on the Edutopia website in December (it took only a month to get together for the interview). Although one of my shortest interviews, it’s one of my favorites. Dan had a very concise use for Minecraft, and his experience as a science teacher allowed him to choose a specific challenging experiment that he has his students do every year. His use of Minecraft can serve to tell teachers around the world that not every Minecraft project is vast in scale, and you can create meaningful and engaging activities in small square footage.
