I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
INTRODUCTION
I want to start off by saying thank you for taking the time to open this book. It is intended to be something to casually peruse in your leisure time, or it can be a companion for you wherever you go out and paint. Hopefully, there will be something in here for you, no matter what your skill level in painting is. If you don’t paint, that’s okay too—it’s also fun eye candy.
The style and format of painting that I will demonstrate throughout this book is a type of painting called en plein air. That’s French for painting out in the open, fresh air, and the English-speaking world has adopted this useful word. Plein air painting purists will tell you that it is only done outdoors.
