ALUSHTA, CRIMEA

The dances of old age may be slower but are no less sweet for a couple at a Veteran’s Sanatorium. The west and south coasts of Crimea are dotted with health resorts and sanatoriums. Some are state-owned—they are the vestiges of an old Soviet system that many Crimean Russians remember nostalgically as representing better times.

A slight pop from my strobe bounced off the ceiling adds a tiny bit of emphasis to the couple dancing.
