HISTORY OF THEATRICAL SOUND

There is an old Latin saying, “nanos gigantium humeris insidentes,” which translates to “dwarfs standing on the shoulders of giants.” Of course, this has become a Western metaphor meaning someone who develops future intellectual pursuits by understanding the research and works created by notable thinkers of the past. In the world of theatrical sound, and especially theatrical mixing, this metaphor could not be more accurate.
