This book is about mixing. About the process I completely lost myself in while making my first demo cassettes. I have gained many insights since then, but every new mix is still almost as big a challenge now as it was then. Mixing is a competition with yourself that only lasts as long as you can sustain your concentration and objectivity. That’s what keeps mixing challenging for me: I manage to accomplish more and more before time runs out. I can immerse myself into the music deeper and deeper. What hasn’t changed over the years is that mixing can drive me to despair. But the satisfaction of all the puzzle pieces falling into place is still indescribable.
