The growing popularity of Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr represents the dramatic shift away from text-based content to visual content. Pinterest, launched in 2009, reached 10 million users faster than any website in history, and it is fast approaching 100 million users. Instagram, launched in 2010, is a mobile-based social network likely to surpass 250 million users in 2014. And Tumblr, launched in 2007, is a microblogging site that hosts over 150 million blogs and has more than 200 million users.
