6. Mobile Security and Management
In 2000, there were only 720 million mobile subscribers in the world; this was only 12 percent of the world’s population.1 In 2011 there were more than 6 billion mobile subscribers, growing to nearly 87 percent of the world’s population.2 By 2016, more than 350 million people will use their personally owned mobile device for work (Bring Your Own Device [BYOD]). They willl be able to work anywhere, anytime—increasing employee productivity and satisfaction.3 The key requirement for a successful BYOD program is management and security.
