6.1 Introduction
The most common starting point in any system design is to establish fundamental or key concepts with a highly abstract model. This applies whether the design is low level or system level, but is especially relevant in systems design. The systems designer is most often concerned with overall structure, algorithms, signal flow, and establishing the structure of the individual elements that make up the system. As such, one of the main requirements for the systems designer is to establish that the overall specification is sensible and feasible, and to define the main techniques by which the ultimate design will achieve the overall goals of the project.
