19.1 INTRODUCTION
In this chapter, we show how to architect distributed system of systems (SoS) based on optimizing end-to-end, enterprise information chain value and how to quantitatively determine that optimized value in terms of customer mission outcome-based effects and, along with our chapter on Cyber Command and Control (C2), provide the framework necessary to analytically inform risk-managed acquisitions and investments and operational decisions on cybersecurity based on customer mission value and cost and risks. It also lays the foundation for the following chapter that goes into the details of the supporting frameworks.
