DRAWING ANIMALS
Animals come in so many different sizes, types, and colors, so they make ideal subject matter for drawing. While you still have the challenge of drawing a moving creature, drawing animals is a great exercise, whether it’s paws and tails or claws and beaks!
Drawing animals from life can be tricky, since animals rarely hold still long enough for you to start and finish a colored pencil drawing. You can, of course, take photos to use as reference for more detailed drawings. If you want to draw a particularly active animal from life, another method of drawing is gesture drawing and color studies. Let’s explore that first!
