This section is a condensed collection of formulas that are regularly used in optical design. It is assumed that the reader is generally familiar with the subject and that no detailed explanations are necessary. Thus this formulary is more in the style of a handbook than that of a textbook, since its purpose is that of a reference listing rather than a tutorial. However, each section is appropriately labeled, defined, and illustrated so that one generally familiar with the subject can readily apply the formulas. If a more extensive explanation is desired, the reader is referred to Smith.
