So far, we have described the developer’s view of a modern web application from the front end, written using HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3, through to the REST calls to the server, which are accepted by JAX-RS services written atop a lightweight JEE server such as WebSphere Liberty (while possibly being routed through a gateway server such as IBM Worklight in the middle). We haven’t discussed much beyond the physical design and creation of the application. This can include an architectural discussion of what it takes to fully integrate your application into your enterprise, along with a discussion of how you can achieve the nonfunctional requirements that your application requires to be successful: security, performance, ...
