Integration – Playing Friendly in a Cloud-Native World

Let’s start by defining our view on what playing friendly in a cloud-native world means. In a cloud-native world, applications should have the following characteristics related to integration:

  • Published interfaces for other systems to connect
  • Extensible connectors to other systems
  • The ability to scale up and down as needed
  • Offer entry, standard, and premium services to meet customer needs
  • Leverage Platform as a Service (PaaS) capabilities
  • Isolation of services – limited or no cross-services dependency
  • Integration with cloud monitoring services, such as Azure Monitor
