Many aspects of good interview practice remain constant regardless of the form of journalism. But mojo interviews involve some new skills and techniques. This chapter covers those new approaches, and also breaks the interview process into stages so newcomers can easily learn how to conduct powerful interviews.
A mojo interview is a form of multi-tasking, in the sense that you are shooting and listening and composing questions all at the same time. So you need to be on your toes and you must be comfortable with using your equipment so you can concentrate on the interview. But ultimately the key to powerful interviewing is your willingness to listen to the person being interviewed.
