Thermodynamic properties of any pure substance are determined by intermolecular forces that operate between the molecules of that substance. Similarly, thermodynamic properties of a mixture depend on intermolecular forces that operate between the molecules of the mixture. The case of a mixture, however, is necessarily more complicated because consideration must be given not only to interaction between molecules belonging to the same component, but also to interaction between dissimilar molecules.
