Chapter 13A Neural Network Begins
“Whatever you are studying right now, if you are not getting up to speed on deep learning, neural networks, etc., you lose. We are going through the process where software will automate software, automation will automate automation.”
– Mark Cuban
You're probably familiar with the term network (a group or system of interconnected people or things), but you may not have heard about neural networks, frameworks where many different processes can work together toward optimization. In many ways, a team of people trying to problem solve their way out of an escape room is a neural network because everyone benefits from the collective knowledge and “computing power” of the other team members. More participants drive more perspective. (When my kids and I participated in an escape room experience, we solved a critical problem because something that was intuitive to my daughter was not at all easy for the adults to see or recognize.) One can argue that markets – from bazaars in Morocco to high-frequency options traders – are another form of neural network. In technology, the term “neural network” is a process where constantly changing inputs are optimized to the best result. It is a form of autopilot technology, utilizing multiple information systems to optimize to the best course from a set of multiple possible courses, all in a common system. This optimization happens by passing data through multiple layers. These layers act like a screen, filtering ...
