Connecting a Bluetooth Device

Bluetooth is a short-range (generally less than 30 feet) wireless technology that you can use to connect your Xoom to Bluetooth hardware like hands-free headsets, car kits, printers, and other wireless devices. If you've purchased any of these devices, read on. Otherwise, you can skip this section. Before you start though, read any documentation that came with your Bluetooth device. Follow those instruction if they differ from what's outlined here.

As with other wireless features, you can access the Settings app to get started:

  1. If applicable, turn on the Bluetooth device and make it discoverable.
  2. On the Xoom, tap the Open Apps icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Wireless & Networks.
  5. Tap Bluetooth (Turn on Bluetooth). (If you don't see this option, tap the Back button.)
  6. Wait while the Xoom scans for devices.
  7. If applicable, perform any additional pairing tasks, as detailed in the device's documentation.

SHOULD I JUST LEAVE BLUETOOTH ENABLED ALL THE TIME? You might think it would be okay to leave Bluetooth enabled all the time. However, this isn't the case. You just won't use Bluetooth that often, and there's no need to let it drain the battery when you don't need it. Just turn on Bluetooth when you need it, and turn it off when you don't.
