The Operations Strategy Puzzle

When many companies develop an operations strategy, they focus on a few areas such as supply chain, labor, capacity, and perhaps some improvement methods such as Lean or Six Sigma, all of which are internally or upstream-focused and often related to cost reduction. There is much more to operations planning than that. It is more like a complicated jigsaw puzzle with interlocking pieces; if any one of them is missing, it leaves an obvious hole in the picture. Completing the puzzle with your colleagues can be fun, develop strong teams and relationships, and provide a great sense of accomplishment.
