5.1. MPEG-J Architecture
This section introduces the MPEG-J architecture and gives a brief overview on how MPEG-J applications are delivered and executed at the terminal. This section will also explain the delivery and execution mechanisms, scope, lifecycle and security of MPEG-J applications.
Figure 5.2 illustrates a simplified architecture of an MPEG-4 player as specified in MPEG-4 Systems, Version 1 [MPEG4-1]. BIFS data in the BIFS elementary streams together with object descriptors (ODs) in the OD streams is used to build the scene graph and associate the nodes in the scene graph with the corresponding audiovisual (media) elementary streams.
