16.4. Audio on the Internet Test
Considering the great success of the MP3 format (i.e., MPEG-1/2 Layer 3), and also that MPEG-4 provides new functionalities and includes new coding tools aimed at increasing audio coding efficiency, one of the most promising applications for the MPEG-4 Audio standard is music online.
The test described in this section was aimed at evaluating the performance of the MPEG-4 Audio tools in this context. For this reason, this verification test was called audio on the Internet [N2425].
