Providing DSL Access to an MPLS VPN
The DSL technology provides high-speed network access over a pair of copper wires, which essentially is the local loop from the telephone company central office (CO) to residential or business premises. A modulation technology called Discrete Multitone (DMT) allows the transmission of high-speed data over the copper pair. It is not within the scope of this book to explain the details of DSL operation; however, the aspects that relate to successful operation within an MPLS VPN network are covered in the following sections.
