Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) PE-CE routing protocol support was developed for service providers offering MPLS VPN services to customers who have deployed OSPF as their intra-site routing protocol and, hence, preferred usage of OSPF as the VPN inter-site routing protocol in an MPLS VPN environment.
