I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
SNMP/MIBs
SNMP is a protocol that provides the communication between an SNMP manager (usually the management station) and the SNMP agent in IP networks. The SNMP agent is a software component that runs on a device to be managed. SNMP provides a standardized framework for managing devices in the network. Part of the framework is the MIBs and the Structure of Management Information (SMI). The SMI provides the mechanisms to define the MIB. Plenty of MIBs are available, and new ones are always being defined. Most protocols have their own MIBs. However, other MIBs are not tied to a certain protocol, but rather to a certain software component on the SNMP agent.
