Introduction

This chapter introduces several different types of management interfaces that may be used to manage MPLS deployments. In particular, we will introduce you to XML, CORBA, SNMP, and the command-line interface (CLI). We will investigate and explain why operators might or might not wish to utilize one, none, or all of these interfaces to manage their MPLS networks, as well as to hopefully provide device vendors with reasons for why they should or should not implement them on their MPLS devices.
