Elevation-Plane Multi-Antenna SAR

In this chapter, we continue to discuss elevation-plane multi-antenna SARs for overcoming the fundamental tradeoff between swath width and range ambiguity. Various methods have been proposed to overcome this limitation. The depth-of-focus approach proposed in [44] can defocus the range ambiguities and thereby reduce their peak levels. However, the energy introduced by widening the elevation beam will result in degraded integrated sidelobe ratio (ISLR) performance. This chapter considers an alternative approach.
