Abstract

Scene monitoring using a cooperative camera network is fast becoming the dominant paradigm in automated surveillance. In this chapter, we describe a framework to cooperatively generate coherent understanding of a scene from such a network. We consider cases where the camera fields of view are overlapping or nonoverlapping, and we discuss how the appearance and motion of objects can be estimated jointly across cameras.
