6: SAR interferometry

Abstract

This chapter addresses the main principles of SAR Interferometry, exploited for topographic applications and monitoring of surface deformations. All processing steps are described, starting from the image coregistration, passing through the interferogram generation, up to the phase unwrapping. Fundamental concepts as orthogonal baseline and coherence are provided.
