A cultural and theoretical context for MIR theory
Abstract:
This first chapter is dedicated to presenting the cultural context in which MIR is developing, and different theories that it may involve. Also addressed are the principles for the indexing and processing of information and digital multimedia documents, provocatively putting forward an epistemological perspective shared between aesthetics, hermeneutics and pragmatics. This perspective attempts to frame MIR theory in relation to general and stable principles of library sciences and information search.
