The current status of MIR systems
Abstract:
In this first chapter of Part Two a quick overview of the current state of multimedia documentation management as performed by the most advanced traditional systems of IR, is presented. This overview is followed by more detailed investigations into VR, VDR, and AR systems, without delving into a description of TR, as it is widely covered in many studies on IR. This is without prejudice to the fact that a textual search can and should be done, as for all MIR, through the integration of content-based methods, such as those based on free word searches of full text and semantic methods, as performed in a traditional terminological search.
