3.1 INTRODUCTION: COMMUNICATION AND ORGANIZATION

Effective communication and documentation workflows are extremely important in any film, television, or media project. And although this is most obviously true for large-scale, large-budget projects, it also applies to low-budget films; all projects benefit from being well organized and documented. The postproduction meeting known as the “spotting session” is the main forum for exchanging ideas and making decisions about the music for a project. Following this meeting the music editor compiles “spotting notes,” and this document then becomes central to the work of producing the music.
